New festival kicks off in Pollokshields

The Southside is set to celebrate it’s blossoming creative talents at the upcoming ‘Garden of Scenic Trees’ festival in Pollokshields.

The arts and music festival named after it’s location, ‘The Garden of Singing Trees’ (or the East Pollokshields Quad), will showcase some of the finest art and musical talent that the Southside has to offer.

The host of young artists and designers will be exhibiting their collections in individual stalls throughout the day, set to a delectable soundtrack of the very best funk, soul and disco curated by a select few of the area’s own up-and-coming DJs.

On top of being able to buy some of the art, clothes and handcrafted jewellery being sold, guests will also be invited to take part in a badminton tournament where they’ll have the chance to win a selection of prizes which include restaurant vouchers for one of the festival’s local sponsors, ‘Sammy’s Bar and Kitchen’.

The badminton court itself was built by the East Pollokshields Quad Charity Committee who hold several tournaments and events on the grounds every year.

The committee are also responsible for building an outdoor pizza oven which will serving freshly made Neapolitan style pizza all day...

Set in the heart of Pollokshields and hand-built by the surrounding community, the Garden of Singing Trees truly is a jewel of the Southside landscape and the perfect location for the debut of this exciting new festival.
