FORMER GHA and Whitecraigs prop Jon Welsh made his debut for Scotland on Saturday.
The 25-year-old Glasgow Warriors’ rugby star was called into action as an eleventh hour replacement for Allan Jacobsen in Scotland’s 6-13 defeat to Italy.
Meanwhile, back in the southside, GHA made a second half comeback at Dumbreck to defeat Cartha 33-21. Whitecraigs went down to Kelso in the Borders, 23-18.
Cartha ladies were celebrating however when they topped Premier two in the first round of league matches to put themselves into promotion contention.
In football, Queen’s Park defeated Berwick Rangers 4-1 and face Clyde on Tuesday night at Hampden while Pollok drew 0-0 with Arthurlie.
In mens’ hockey, Clydesdale defeated Dundee Wanderers 3-0 while in womens’ national league one, Milne Craig Clydesdale Western were also 3-0 winners, against Western wildcats. Giffnock defeated Edinburgh Uni 4-0.
