Pollok Park run regular Stuart Macdougall was in third place, completing the challenging course in just one hour, 40 minutes and 37 seconds.

The first woman to finish was Edinburgh athletic club’s Jenny Maclean, who finished in eigth place overall in one hour 44 minutes and 48 seconds.

The second female over the line was Shettleston Harrier Carole Setchell while Allie Chong was the third female to finish.

Dumfries running club’s Joanne Needleman made the trip to the southside of Glasgow for the event.

She said: “Thank you to all the helpers, marshals and police that helped in yesterday’s race. It was a fabulous event and really well organised. I saw a different side to Glasgow and thought what a beautiful city it is and the people are so friendly.

“I will definitely be back again next year, with a lot more hill training in the bag.”
