A NEWLANDS golfer has claimed two prestigious golfing awards.
John Bisset has been named both his club’s golfer of the year and his school’s annual golfing championship.
The 15-year-old St Aloysius College pupil, who has a handicap of seven, plays at Pollok golf club.
He has been playing golf since he was just three years old.
The teenager also won the silver medal in the Elie and Earlsferry Senior Open Championship, where he competed against golfers of all ages and shot a net 65 on the Par 70 course.
These wins resulted in John being presented with the Centenary Quaich, a prestigious annual award reserved for the Golfer of the Year at Pollok Golf Club.
He told The Extra: “I am very much looking forward to next season when, because of my age, I can still play in all the junior tournaments.
“I will be looking to defend my titles and develop my game even further.”
