In a fabulous weekend for Glasgow Rocks, they maintained their British Basketball League title challenge by thrashing Plymouth Raiders 98-80 for a sixth straight league win.
And there was further good news with the announcement that Rocks ace Kieron Achara has been crowned Molten BBL Player of the Month for February.
The win over Plymouth saw Rocks close in on the league’s top two thanks to an impressive shooting display from long range.
Achara finished with a game-high 26 points, while Gareth Murray and Neil Watson added 20 points apiece as the trio made 15 3-pointers between them.
Watson opened with back-to-back triples and added a third late in the opening period as both teams struggled to get going with Plymouth shooting below 25 per cent after the first.
The visitors made a better start to the second and quickly doubled their points total, but Achara knocked down consecutive threes to help the Rocks to a 34-24 advantage.
Glasgow made nine threes in the first half, but it was a triple from Daryl Corletto - who finished with 21 points - that ended the half as his side went into the interval, down 45-36.
The Rocks continued to find their range from downtown in the third as the lead increased to 15 points before another strong surge in the fourth.
Meanwhile, the monthly player award for Achara came after his excellent recent form which has included a succession of towering performances.
While Rocks lost their opener against Riders at the start of February, Achara was pivotal to them bouncing back with four straight wins.
Amassing an average performance efficiency valuation of 20.6 across those five games, that figure was mainly drawn from an excellent 18.6 points per game - helped by Achara’s perfect 100 per cent from the free-throw line and going 12 of 23 from beyond the arc.
He had seven rebounds per game and was the BBL’s leading shot-blocker during February.
