MORE than 150 tennis players flocked to Giffnock tennis club this week for the club’s annual tennis tournament.
In its seventh successive year, some of the highest ranked juniors and seniors came from all corners of Scotland, and spectators enjoyed almost 200 matches of high quality tennis throughout the weekend.
There was a great deal of success for Giffnock members, including Iona Campbell, who, after narrowly losing in both ladies and girls under 18 finals, found success in the ladies doubles event in which she competed with Sarah Breed.
Giffnock men’s first team captain Owen Hadden won the gents double event with Alan Macdonald.
Fellow club member Harriet Beattie lost in the final of girls under 14 to Kent’s Sophie Knox and was a runner up with twin sister Ceit in the ladies double final.
Another Giffnock member, Huzaifah Ali, was a runner up in the under eight event.
Local sponsors Whole Foods Giffnock provided complimentary fruit and water on a daily basis for all competitors.
