FORMER Queen’s Park and Holyrood footballer Ryan McGeever has signed a new professional contract with Falkirk.
The deal will keep the southside footballer with the Bairns until June 2016.
And the 18-year-old was immediately put to work on his new terms, thrown into the heart of the defence for hsi team’s 1-1 draw at Hamilton on Saturday. He was tasked with holding the defence together after the dismissal of Jonathan Flynn on 58 minutes.
He said: “It’s been a good couple of days. “I’m pleased with how I played but we’re a bit disappoint with the result - we felt we could have hung on.”
His boss Steven Pressley was to the point with his assessment, telling The Extra: “He was brilliant.’’ Pressley identified McGeever as a future star when Falkirk played Scotland schoolboys in a closed-doors friendly when the youngster was representing Glasgow schools, and Holyrood secondary, in the national squad.
Then after further scouting he was signed by the Bairns in the summer, leaving Queen’s Park where he’d spent eight years.
