Giffnock Soccer Centre’s Goalkeeping Academy has gone from strength to strength since it opened its doors in 2009.
The Academy is now run by five qualified goalkeeping coaches, and now attracts 20 goalkeepers from across the club - and the doors are now open to all budding southside goalies.
The club recently hosted an SFA Level 1 goalkeeping coaching course, which was run by Barry Nicholson’s, goalkeeper coach at St Mirren.
With more than 20 GSC coaches attending the course, the club now has one of the largest qualified goalkeeper sections of any club – youth, junior or senior – in the country.
Sessions are provided free to all GSC players currently, but the club are now inviting goalies from other local clubs along to benefit from the top class coaching available.
All sessions take place on Friday nights at the all-weather pitch at Williamwood High School (P3 – P5, 6.30 – 7.15, P5 upwards 6.30 – 8.00). For non-GSC players, sessions are available on a £2 pay-as-you-play basis.
