Former Hutchesons’ Grammar School pupil Calum Forrester captained Ayr Rugby Club to the RBS Premier Division title.
The title decision didn’t only come down to the match against Currie, at Millbrae which ended 39-13 win but also relied on the Stirling County versus Gala score at Bridgehaugh going in their favour. The hosts won this match, 26-21, ending Gala’s chances for the championship.
The ex-GHA and Glasgow Warriors back-row forward said: “This is what we have been working towards all season. To finally have it in the bag is a relief. It’’s great to be part of that.
“For the club it’s great. This is what we want to be. Once we got in the position to win the league that was our main focus”.
Forrester and the rest of his Ayr teammates can now win the double by getting to Murrayfield for the RBS national cup final in April.
