HOLLY Cram led the way as Milne Craig Clydesdale Western launched their Aberdeen Asset Management women’s national league campaign with a resounding 7-0 victory over Western Wildcats at Titwood on Saturday.
It was the internationalist who opened Western’s account when she found the target following a cross from the right from Ali Howie.
Skipper Catriona Ralph made it two with a direct strike at a penalty corner, and the third was a carbon copy of the first, Cram again in the right place to put the finish touch.
The match was played largely in the Wildcats’ half throughout, and goals continued to flow after the interval from the superior stick skills of the Clydesdale Western squad.
Irish internationalist Anna-Mae Morton scored from close quarters, deflecting in a sideways pass from Cram at the near post at another penalty corner.
Then Cram herself made it 5-0 from a goalmouth melee for her hat-trick.
Nicola Pitticas posted her name on the score sheet when she latched onto a rebound off the keeper’s pads to make it 6-0.
And the scoring was completed by another direct strike at a set-piece by the Clydesdale Western captain.
At the adjacent Hutchesons’ arena, Giffnock completed their opening match with four goals against Grange. Elaine Brierley, Suzie Blake, Cath Stirling and Kareena Marshall were all on target.
