Giffnock United Disability/ASM team have been awarded the end of season prizes after a fantastic winning streak.
Community Care Choice, which provides services to a range of local councils and carers centres throughout Glasgow, were delighted to present the awards to the team.
Joeanne Hamilton, managing director of Community Care Choice, said: “We are an integral part of the community in Giffnock, providing home care support to many and we are delighted to be able to continue sponsoring Giffnock Soccer Centre Disability/ASN team.
“They have come on leaps and bounds since we first started sponsoring the team and their sense of identity, via new strips, training kit etc., has been greatly enhanced.”
She continued: “This is such a great initiative from Giffnock Soccer Centre and all credit to Ryan Quinn and the other coaches for the time and effort they have put in to supporting those with disability/ASN to participate in football.”
Ryan Quinn, football development officer at Giffnock Soccer Centre, said: “The sponsorship has made a huge difference to our players and they have a real sense of belonging to a team now.
“We are keen to spread the message about the club and if you know of anyone who would be interested in joining, visit our website at www.giffnocksoccercentre.com/disability_football.”
Giffnock Soccer Centre (GSC) was founded in 1995 by a group of dads keen to teach their children the rudiments of football in a safe and fun environment.
It is now one of the biggest clubs of its type in the country with over 1000 boys and girls currently at the club. The club is run entirely by over 200 volunteers and coaches.
It is also accredited to the Positive Coaching Scotland programme and, in March 2013, became the first club in the area to be recognised by the SFA as a Disability Inclusive Club.
