It had been a frustrating night as Scotland sought to find a way to break through the Cyprus defence in their Euro 2020 qualifier at Hampden Park.

But Scotland captain Robertson finally broke the deadlock with a stunning strike from distance past the Cypriot goalkeeper Pardo in the 61st minute.

It was Robertson’s third goal for his country, and looked as though it would be enough to secure a narrow 1-0 victory.

However, after Kousoulos headed home an 86th minute equaliser for Cyprus, it took a late strike from substitute Oliver Burke to secure a 2-1 win and keep alive Scotland’s hopes of qualifying for the finals next summer.
