19 players signed for Lanark United as they gear up for new league

Lanark United now have 19 players signed for the start of next season in Conference C of the new West of Scotland Football League.

Three newcomers to the squad are defender Jordan Jeffrey and midfielder Andrew Gilchrist, both signed from Bellshill Athletic, and midfielder Marc McGinty from Lesmahagow Amateurs.

All other members of the squad have all been re-signed from last season.

They are: Gareth Hallford, Cameron Lawson, Mark Haddow, Joshua Gracie, David Collins, Ben Fraser, Sam Anderson, Scott Nicol, Peter O’Donnell, Jordan Fraser, Declan Lafferty, James Martin, Aaron Neill, Hugh Kerr, Ian Watt and Kieran Brannan.

United president George Reid said: “I’m really pleased with the effort the management team (gaffer Colin Slater and assistant Cameron McNeish) have put in to piece that together.

“They have been working hard during lockdown to make sure that the club is as ready as any club would be for going into a new league which is very, very competitive.

“We’ve been on a good run for the last couple of years and we want to give ourselves the best possible chance to keep it going.”
