Clydesdale star Majid Haq’s batting helped a young Scotland team cause significant upsets in their debut appearance in the Hong Kong six-a-side tournament last week.

The Scots started by losing to Sri Lanka, despite dismissing five of the Test country’s six batsmen.

Then the underdogs shocked New Zealand by overtaking the target of 83 without losing a wicket, and followed up with a five-wicket victory over an All-Star team.

The Scots then posted the highest total of the competition - 100 - in their quarter-final match against the hosts, but lost to Hong Kong.

Haq’s batting prowess came into its own in these last two matches, when he scored 16 from three balls against the All-Stars and 26 from seven balls in that final game.
