Carnwath ladies raise funds for Lupus

CARNWATH Golf Club ladies captain Jean Battison recently presented a £470 charity cheque to her daughter Gillian Forrest, who accepted it in her role as a Lupus UK representative.

The money was raised via respective ladies open and mixed open competitions at Carnwath GC.

“I chose this charity because Gillian has Lupus,” said Jean.

“There is no cure for this disease at the moment and all the money we’ve raised will go towards research into it.”

Lupus causes the body’s immune system to go into overdrive and start to attack itself.

The symptoms are many and varied and the illness seems to mimic other diseases which means that diagnosis of it is difficult.

Carnwath Golf Club ladies give money to charity annually and have raised thousands of pounds for good causes over the years.
