Carluke’s Gary McDermaid is dominating Scottish Speed Championships
The 25-year-old, who combines his thrill of motorsport with working for South Lanarkshire Council, is currently top of the standings - a tremendous achievement considering 98 drivers are competing in the Championship.
However, despite winning almost all of the events the complicated scoring system of the Championship means he is only three points in front of his nearest rivals.

Hide AdNext up is the Kames track, near Muirkirk this weekend and Gary is hoping for another win to boost his title challenge.
He said: “The scoring system is quite complicated but because there is lots of different classes the organisers try and make it as fair as possible.
“If you get close to your class record you get more points; it means that people who haven’t got the best car or lots of money can compete.
“I’m only a few points clear but this has been the best season I have had so I’m hoping to keep that going.”
