The two stars were on hand to welcome Bishopbriggs head coach Mick Ashworth to a training course for coaches chosen to deliver a national coaching programme that aims to inspire a new generation of tennis-loving children.

The Tennis for Kids coaching programme, launched by the Lawn Tennis Association following Great Britain’s Davis Cup success, aims to inspire 10,000 children aged 5-8 to pick up a racket and play for the first time.

Bishopbriggs is one of the venues which will offer a free six-week course and tennis racket for each child.

Mick said: “This is a great opportunity to give kids a chance to try tennis and to discover what a great sport it is. We are delighted to have been selected as one of the venues. The sessions will fit in well with the rest of our spring and summer coaching programme.”

Dates for the sessions will be announced shortly. To find out more visit the club website at www.bishopbriggstc.com, or go along to the club’s opening day on Saturday, April 2.
