A sensational Paralympics for Newton Mearns swimmer Andrew Mullen continued last weekend when he won a silver medal in the S5 Men 50m Backstroke in Brazil.
This is one of three medals won for the Great Britain team by the 19-year-old in Rio, a haul which also includes a pair of bronze medals in the 200m freestyle and 100m freestyle.
Andrew is guest of honour at a homecoming party organised by neighbour Catherine Horsburgh this Saturday.
“What a guy,” she said. “All locals are so pleased for him.”
