Greaves Clydesdale found the winning formula on Saturday, defeating VWS Dundee Wanderers 7-3 to take them out of the relegation zone.

A brace by Ciaran Crawford and strikes by Ben Peterson and Steve McKnight gave Clydesdale an impressive half-time lead.

The home side extended their domination in the second half, with three more goals from Gordon Munro, Fraser Hirst and Peterson again.

Towards the end, Clydesdale keeper Stuart Brown was left stranded by his defence as Wanderers netted three goals in the final seven minutes to make the final score 7-3.

Although there were no women’s league fixtures in Scotland on Saturday, Great Britain’s Laura Bartlett, a product of the Milne Craig Clydesdale Western club, was one of the Scots who took a first look at the new blue-and-pink Olympic hockey stadium in London.

Scotland’s u21 women were in action in a three-match training weekend against England at Lilleshall.

The Scots lost 4-2 in their opening game but Western’s Ali Howie and Fiona Bruce were both on the scoresheet.
