POLICE are on the look-out for a man who mugged a young woman in the southside.
The woman (19) was walking on Pollokshaws Road, close to Queens Park, around 6pm on Saturday evening when the assailant struck – threatening to pour a corrosive liquid over her.
He then ran off with the woman’s purse, which contained a small amount of money.
The teenager was unhurt though police are warning the mugger could strike again.
The man is described as in his 20s, 5ft 10ins in height with short, black hair and sunken features.
He was wearing a grey, hooded top with the number six in white on the back, black trousers and white trainers.
Constable Scott Brockie said: “This was a very nasty and extremely frightening ordeal for the young girl involved.
“Thankfully, she did not require hospital treatment but is absolutely terrified by what has happened.
“A couple of people came to her aid and I would ask that they contact police as they might have information that will help us catch the man responsible.
“Pollokshaws Road would have been very busy at this time and I am sure the man would have been in the area some time before this attack.
“On this occasion, he did not get away with much money, so it is very possible he may try and do this again”.
