This image of Busby Road, Clarkston, dating from 1931, is still recognisable today.
Although modern motorists may look on wistfully at the rush hour traffic trundling along, some car enthusiasts will also drool over the classic design of moter vehicle from yesteryear.
Today’s driver will no doubt be envious of the width of the roads back then — they look more akin to dual carriageways.
And the age-old tradition of putting up poster on gable ends was still honoured back then.
