IT APPEARS to be a sunny day more than 100 years ago in Mearns.
The Main Street has shadows cast, covering the children posing for this photo, circa 1910.
The photographer is looking north so we may assume that, given the direction of the shadows, this would be late in the day.
Further up the road we can see a man standing on the street and two women standing in a doorway. Another woman can be seen standing across the road from the children.
Perhaps photographers were such an uncommon sight in the Mearns that they wanted to see him work.
While photography dates back to the 1840s, itseems it was little used on the streets.
