MAGIC carpet rides and plenty of festive cheer at The Shed for TRAM Direct’s annual panto. Aladdin runs until Sunday, and tickets are £10 (£8 conc) from 637 0778 or www.tramdirect.com. NOTE: an extra performance of Aladdin, tomorrow at 2.30pm, has been added due to popular demand.

PANTO fun continues at Newton Mearns Parish Church. Fairytale - the Magical Panto - presented by Wing & A Prayer Theatre Productions - runs until Tuesday (times vary) and tickets are £5 from 639 5830 or on the door.


FOODBANK collection at Silverburn (outside Next). Regular collection hub returns today noon-3pm, in aid of the Glasgow South West Foodbank, which has helped more than 8,000 people in the southside.

FOOD pop up at The Allison Arms, courtesy of Sunshine Tea Lounge. Tonight, oven-baked chicken on the bone, wok-fried in Sichuan peppercorn and served with spicy potatoes. 5.30-9pm - cost £5.50/£6.


CELEBRATE all things malt with the Times Like These Whisky Festival at the Jury’s Inn on Jamaica St. 7-10pm and tickets are £40 for six drams and a talk.

NIGHT of Miracles performed at Giffnock South Parish Church. Join the church choir and soloists from the Royal Conservatoire for John Peterson’s festive Cantata from 7pm. Free concert conducted by Martin Bennie with Alan Gillon on the organ and narration by Sheonagh Beaton - refreshments provided afterwards.
