“We need help with the maintenance of the raised beds at the Horticulture Centre as well as the top two terraces of the terraced gardens,” said chairwoman Sylvia Russell.

“We are taking delivery of 100 rose bushes and will need an army of volunteers to help us create a Wallace Memorial Rose Garden.”

Work is also about to start on a Fairy Dell for children, on the hill from the horticulture centre to the old pond site.

Those with even an hour or two per week to spare who are interested in helping should get in touch.

Volunteer induction sessions are being held on Thursday, March 26, at 2.30pm and Tuesday, March 31, at 11am at the Horticulture Centre. Those interested should contact Chris Armour on 01555 890673 or email [email protected]
