A large group of Pollokshields pupils have just returned from a concert tour of Salzburg, as part of international celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of The Sound of Music.

The girls are members of Craigholme School’s Festival Choir.

They spent five days in the Austrian city, which is the birthplace of Mozart, where they sang in front of hundreds of people at two world-famous venues.

The 42-strong choir performed in the majestic Mirabell Palace and Gardens and in the stunning baroque architecture of Salzburg Cathedral.

The trip was the culmination of a year-long school music project focusing on the influence Austria has had on the world of music.

This includes the creativity of Mozart and Schubert, the Waltz and of course The Sound of Music.
