An East Renfrewshire chef has been selected to represent the UK at Europe’s most important and prestigious skills competition.
Nicolle Finnie, 20, who trains with City of Glasgow College and works for DRG, has achieved a place in Team UK at EuroSkills Budapest.
Taking place from September 26 to 28, the EuroSkills Competition will see teams from across Europe compete in a wide range of skills.
Team UK are 22 elite young apprentices and learners from across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
They will battle it out to win medals in disciplines ranging from engineering to construction and digital to hospitality.
Nicolle said: “The selection process for Team UK was exhaustive but I am so passionate about cooking that I was determined to secure my place. I know the competition will be tough in Budapest but I’m determined to give it my all and make everyone back home proud of me.
Dr Neil Bentley, chief executive, WorldSkills UK, the organisation responsible for selecting and training Team UK to the highest international standard said: “I offer my congratulations to Nicolle.
“This will be a life-enhancing opportunity for her and the other members of Team UK.
