Around 180 East Ren youngsters are enjoying a summer of sports, crafts and healthy eating — at school.
Education, catering and active sports team run a holiday camp during the summer break to ensure children who are entitled to free school meals can still have a free healthy meal outside school term.
East Ren was the first area in Scotland to set up a school holiday programme of this kind, now in its tenth year.
The camp also provides sport, exercise and creative activities that promote health and wellbeing during the school holidays.
A council spokeswoman said: “It enables the council to engage with vulnerable children during holiday times, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment as well as giving support from positive adult role models, who encourage youngsters to make friends and play with others.”
All pupils who are entitled to free school meals are written to inviting them to take part in the holiday programme.
Pupils who don’t receive free school meals are also welcome.
The programme runs during Summer, October week and the Easter school holidays from Barrhead High and Eastwood High.
