Store wars begin in Biggar High Street

A battle has erupted on Biggar High Street, one that Lanark fought – and some say lost – 30 years ago.

In what is being seen as the first shots in a fight for survival of the independent, traditional Biggar shops against the tide of modern chain-store competition, Brownlie’s have carred out a major five-figure revamp of their licensed grocery store.
