In what is being seen as the first shots in a fight for survival of the independent, traditional Biggar shops against the tide of modern chain-store competition, Brownlie’s have carred out a major five-figure revamp of their licensed grocery store.

Hide AdAnd the firm has stated quite openly that it was to ‘take on Sainsbury’s’ which has opened a “local” in the town.
