SPORTY youngsters from Kirkhill primary school made their television debut last weekend, ahead of the Six Nations rugby tournament.

The school was chosen to feature in a national BBC broadcast of Newsround, because of its successful after-school rugby group.

A group of eight East Renfrewshire pupils were filmed playing rugby in the school hall, before being interviewed on their favourite players and Six Nations predictions.

The programme was broadcast last Saturday, marking the first day of the tournament, and pictured are the young stars, alongside Kirkhill head teacher Yvonne Donaldson, principal teacher Gillian McCombe, senior active schools co-ordinator Barry Cook and Stewart Magorian, club development officer at Whitecraigs rugby club.
