A local southside primary school are hoping that others will follow their lead in challenging governments around the world.
St Vincent’s have launched a campaign called ‘Send my Friend to School’.
The campaign is calling on pupils in the UK to speak out for the tens of millions of children who are missing out on school due to conflicts, natural disasters and other emergencies.
Students invited their local MP Mr Stewart McDonald to a special assembly, to accept their petition in support of those children who are being denied the basic right to education. They asked Mr McDonald to deliver their petition to the PM and that she presents it to World Leaders at the next UN summit.
Stewart commented: “It was really great to be invited back to the school to support their ‘Send my Friend to School’ campaign. Their enthusiasm and effort is a credit to the School.
“I’ll certainly make sure that the Prime Minister is aware of their hard work and commitment.”
