Just because you’re no longer a child is no good reason to forego a visit from Santa and his team.
And that’s exactly what happened this week at Bupa’s Darnley Court Care Home, when the man in red and his entourage arrived for a visit.
Dasher, Blitzen and friends helped bring some festive spirit to the residents when more than 100 local schoolchildren were given the honour of switching on the lights to decorate the home and its outdoor Christmas tree.
The children from two local primary schools, St Angela’s and Darnley Primary, attended the event to sing traditional carols and Christmas songs, with residents and staff encouraged to join in the sing-along.
Residents and guests, including Santa, then enjoyed a range of festive treats, including mince pies, all washed down with a cosy hot chocolate or mug of mulled wine.
The children were also given a selection box each, to say thank you for their singing.
