Rouken Glen park ready for runners

THE Giffnock North running festival returns to Rouken Glen park next Thursday for its 21st year.

The event will kick off with a childrens’ race at 5.45 pm, followed by a five kilometre fun run at 6.30pm.

Then, it’s time for the main event, when the challengers line up at 7.30pm. More than 1,000 runners will take part across the three races.

Race organiser Charlie McKie told The Extra: “The event has something for everyone; from club runners hoping for a personal best right through to beginners.

“The 5k is a great stepping stone for people just getting into running while I anticipate personal bests for runners in the 10K , given that it is a flatter course.

“This event is essential for our club, it is a source of income we desperately need to assist our athletes in competition throughout the UK and to buy equipment for our athletes to use”.

Registration and number collection for the Specsavers 10K will be conducted on Wednesday (June 12) from 5pm till 7pm and from 5pm on Thursday night at the
