DRIVERS travelling through East Renfrewshire are advised of a number of road closures taking place.
Newton Mearns motorists may be happy to know that Stewarton Road, at Dodside Road, reopens tomorrow (Friday) following a week-long closure.
The road has been closed since Monday, to allow carriageway works ahead of a transportation of Scottish Power equipment on oversized vehicles.
Now roads in both Busby and Newton Mearns will be closed during October to allow resurfacing work to take place.
The first, at Cartside Road in Busby, will be closed to the public from October 15-26 between junctions with Southview Avenue and Oliphant Crescent.
The two week roadworks will limit access to all except emergency vehicles, although pedestrian access will be maintained throughout.
Restricted access will, however, be permitted between Southview Avenue and Ellisland Road, in accordance with the work going on at the site throughout.
An alternative route will also be signposted, directing traffic onto Ellisland Road and Oliphant Crescent and vice-versa.
Larchfield Avenue in Newton Mearns will also close on October 15, this time for three weeks and again for resurfacing work to be carried out.
The section between Firwood Road and Larchfield Court will reopen on November 2 – until then only emergency vehicles and pedestrians will be allowed access.
An alternative route between Firwood Road, Beech Avenue and Shaw Road, or between Shaw, Ayr and Firwood Roads will be signposted.
East Renfrewshire council has issued an apology for an inconvenience roadworks may cause to residents.
