Ready for a Highland fling?

FINGERS crossed for good weather this weekend as the annual Highland Games return to Rouken Glen Park.

There’s a packed programme of events tomorrow (Saturday)from 11am, including the usual strong man competitions — and the introduction of an international women’s highland challenge, featuring competitors from far and wide.

Families can also look forward to the women’s welly-throwing contest, children’s entertainment, and historical re-enactment, as well as a farmers market and craft fair.

Traditional pipe bands and highland dancers will be on hand to entertain, and provost Alastair Carmichael promises another “terrific spectacle” to rival last year’s show, which attracted 15,000.
