Primary pupils served up some great games of tennis when they took part in a tournament organised by East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure.
Teams from seven schools - Carlibar, Carolside, Eaglesham, Giffnock, Our Lady of the Missions, St Thomas and Uplawmoor - took part in the East Renfrewshire Primary Tennis Tournament, held at Giffnock Tennis Club.
And it was the youngsters from Our Lady of the Missions Primary who lifted the top title and the trophy before going on to represent East Renfrewshire in the West of Scotland regional finals. The kids gave it their all, playing some top tennis and winning a very creditable third place.
Anthony McReavy, chief executive of East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure, said: “All the players competing for the East Renfrewshire trophy played a minimum of six matches each and the standard of play and rallies really impressed the tournament organisers.
“Not only did the team from Our Lady of the Missions play some great tennis to win the trophy, they really did us proud with their performances at the regional finals.
“We do all we can to encourage youngsters to participate in many different sports and tournaments, and these go a long way to encourage them to develop and realise their potential in their chosen sport.”
