Children at Pollokshields Primary have been doing their bit for the environment recently with a clean up around the school premises.
The pupils grabbed their litter pickers and brushes during the Clean Up Scotland campaign and set to with a coordinator from Glasgow City Council’s Land Environment Services team.
The school is currently in the middle of a refurbishment programme and, as a consequence ,there is plenty of extra rubbish being blown in and lying around the area to collect!
Susan Ewington, eco-coordinator at the school, told The Extra: “Unfortunately some of our community either drop cans, plastic bags and food wrappers or else do not securely place them in the bins provided. So our pupils, armed with litter pickers, set off to sort the area.
“We discussed the reasons why some people drop litter and pupils were keen to share good practice with their families. They are very keen to continue their hard work , whilst encouraging less dropping of litter .”
