THE man who died when he was struck by a bus was himself a bus driver.

James Lochrie (62), of Castlemilk, was waiting at the bus stop on Cathcart Road near the junction with Butterbiggins Road around 8am on Saturday when the 31 bus left the road and struck him.

It is believed he may have been waiting to relieve the driver when the accident happened.

Police are now urging any witnesses to be in touch as they are still trying to piece together the circumstances.

One theory is that the driver (44) could have taken ill at the wheel.

He escaped uninjured.

Cathcart Road was closed to all traffic between Coplaw Street and Aikenhead Road until 2pm as an investigation was carried out.

Anyone with information is urged to call police on 0141 532 6442.
