I WAS on holiday in Madeira a couple of years ago enjoying the view from the municipal park in Madeira’s capital, Funchal, when this butterfly landed on a plant nearby.
Fortunately I had my camera on and ready and took it freehand quickly before it flew off.
The butterfly is a Monarch ‘Danaus Plexippus’ which resides in the Madeira archipelago.
I liked the contrast between the black head and the orange wings.
The camera used was a Panasonic DMC-F238 and it was taken at 320th of a second at f5.6 and ISO80.
