The Giving Back Project is specifically designed to support those local charities and organisations that have been hardest hit by the pandemic, and the lockdowns of the past few months.

It will target groups that engage in any of the following:

David Pierotti, General Manager at Silverburn, said: “The past few months have been an extremely challenging time for so many people, and it is more important than ever that we support those in need. The Giving Back Project is all about giving a helping hand to those charities and organisations that do valuable work for local people, but are facing challenges as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. By partnering with Foundation Scotland, we can make sure we reach the groups that most need our support.”

Giles Ruck, Chief Executive at Foundation Scotland said: “For over 20 years, we’ve been bringing together funders and grassroots organisations to help support and strengthen communities in every corner of Scotland. We are delighted to be working in partnership Silverburn to help support some of the vital projects being delivered within Glasgow. Just a few thousand pounds can make a significant difference, even more so during this pandemic. We’ve already distributed over £950,000 in crisis funding across Glasgow City in recent months so this extra funding boost from Silverburn is a further lifeline”.

One project in the Glasgow area that benefitted from extra funding recently was the Govan Housing Association who received support from Foundation Scotland’s Response, Recovery & Resilience Fund at the start of the pandemic.

The Association works right on the frontline engaging with the most vulnerable people in the community. The crisis funding was used to provide a hot food service and food parcel delivery service right to the doors of people in Govan, engaging with at least 200 people per day between the food van, food parcels and basic deliveries of bread and milk.
