Plight of street dog inspires charity night

Gongo was found on the streets of Tanzania with his leg hacked off by a machete and serious teeth and bones injuries.

He is recovering well after the dedication of animal rescue volunteers. The affectionate pup also made an amazing journey to Scotland.

The event by Friends of MBwa Wa African Animal 
Rescue takes place at the Scout Hall, Aidans Brae, Clarkston on Saturday, March 11 from 7pm.

There will be a disco, bar, snacks, raffle and entertainment, including the Glasgow premier of the screening of “Gongo: My Journey”.

The film charts the rescue and journey to Scotland of this much-loved pooch.

Phyllis Hutchison of the Glasgow based charity said: “Get your tickets now as there are limited numbers and don’t miss out.

“Show your support for this good cause and have a social night out in Clarkston, Glasgow. There will be a disco, bar, snacks, raffle and lots of fun!”

Tickets are priced £10 and available on the Friends of Mbwa Wa Africa Animal Rescue Facebook page.

The film has been produced by Eddy Gemmell of the Ayrshire Film Co.

Phyllis said: “The film also features Glasgow ‘Super Vet’ Bill Kennedy of Taylor Vets in Clarkston and East Kilbride who has supported the charity in many ways, including a donation for dental treatment for Gongo.
