Plans to reduce speed limit on Barrhead to Newton Mearns road

East Renfrewshire Council is proposing to reduce the current speed limit of 60mph on the C9 Aurs Road, Barrhead to Newton Mearns.

The local authority is looking to introduce a 30mph Speed Limit on Aurs Road between its junction with Springfield Road, Barrhead.

It is also proposing a 40mph Speed Limit close to the access lane to Scottish Waters Ryat Lynn Reservoir.

It is hoped that the reduced speed limits will improve road safety for all road users, including those who choose to cycle or walk between Springfield Road, Barrhead and the B769 Stewarton Road, Newton Mearns, where there are no footway provision.

If passed the order will make it an offence for any person to drive a motor vehicle at a speed exceeding the proposed limits on the above sections of road.
