Help Rouken Glen Park fly the Green Flag

Locals are being encouraged to vote for Rouken Glen Park as Scotland’s treasured green spaces go to the polls.

Voting opens for the national competition to choose the UK’s top parks on Sunday.

The People’s Choice vote allows members of the public to have their say - selecting the parks that will be crowned the top ten in the country.

After expert judges awarded 71 parks in Scotland, and almost 2,000 in the UK, the coveted Green Flag in July, members of the public now have the opportunity to select which Green Flag parks are truly the very best.

Last year, Strathaven Park in South Lanarkshire placed in the top ten for the fifth time in six years and was awarded the accolade of “Scotland’s favorite park”. This year, parks stretching from the Western Isles to the Scottish Borders are all in with a chance - if locals speak out on their behalf and place their vote.

Katie Murray, Communities and Place Manager at Keep Scotland Beautiful said: “A record breaking 1,973 parks will all be competing as part of the People’s Choice vote across the UK. I hope that everyone will take this opportunity to place their vote - standing up for Scotland’s clean and green open spaces.

“The People’s Choice prize is a good opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the 71 Scottish parks that received a Green Flag. Make your voice heard and vote now.”

The voting is open from September 1 - 30 with winners announced on October 16.
