Events held in East Renfrewshire during Breastfeeding Awareness Week

Scottish Breastfeeding Awareness Week is taking place from Monday, June 3 - Friday, June 7.

There are a number of events being held across the week for new parents, soon-to-be parents and carers to receive help and advice.

Monday, June 3:

Breastfeeding peer support will be available throughout the day with Babybox Sling demonstrations available in the afternoon.

Time: 9-12pm and 1-3pm at Barrhead Health and Care Centre, 213 Main St, Barrhead

Tuesday, June 4

Breastfeeding peer support will be available along with Babybox Sling demonstrations

Time: 9.30-12.30pm at Barrhead Health and Care Centre, 213 Main St, Barrhead

Wednesday, June 5

Breastfeeding peer support will be available throughout the day with Baby massage and Bookbug tasters (plus craft activities) available in the afternoon. Pop-up Babycafe breastfeeding group available 1.30-3pm.

Thursday, June 6

Breastfeeding peer support along with Babybox Sling demonstrations will be available throughout the day. Baby massage and Bookbug tasters (plus craft activities) will be available in the afternoon. Babycafe fun day (1.30-3.30pm).

Friday, June 7

Breastfeeding peer support will be available in the morning.

UK legislation protects a mother’s right to breastfeed her child in any place that the child is allowed to be, without interruption or intrusion. East Renfrewshire Council and HSCP welcome breastfeeding in all their buildings, places and spaces and have a policy to support this.
