Evacuated residents to return home following Pollokshields fire

Emergency services remain at the scene of a fire in the Pollokshields area of Glasgow.

Residents who were evacuated will now be allowed to return to addresses in Kenmuir Street, number 173, and all numbers south of 173 to Leslie Street.

Glenapp Street, number 56, and all numbers south of 56 to Leslie Street. All residents returning to their address should report to the police at the cordon line for access.

Anyone who has been displaced by the fire should contact Glasgow City Council Homeless Team on 0800 838 502 and assistance will be provided.

Road closures remain in place around the area, including Forth Street at Albert Drive, Glenapp Street at Albert Drive, Kenmuir Street at Albert Drive, Keir Street at Albert Drive and Maxwell Drive at Kenmuir Street.

Inspector John Menzies at the scene said: “Cordons will remain in place until the area is safe. Further assessments and updates will provided when available.

“I would like to thank the public for their patience during this difficult time.”
