Busby Hotel makes Wishes come True for families

For the third year running The Busby Hotel has welcomed children and their families from the When You Wish Upon a Star charity to enjoy a Disney themed Afternoon Tea.

A total of 20 families from all over Scotland travelled to the hotel in Busby, Glasgow, where they were treated to a day of Disney characters, music, dancing, games, prizes, food, face-painting and lots of fun.

When You Wish Upon a Star is the chosen charity supported by the Busby Hotel. The Busby team fundraise by arranging events, such as a Ben Nevis climb and a cycle around Millport.

The charity helps to bring smiles to children aged 4-17 years who live with a life-threatening illness by giving them memories to treasure.

All the children made a fantastic effort for the day and arrived suitably dressed for the occasion. There was an array of colourful princesses, Disney characters and superheroes. The Busby team also got in on the action and transformed themselves into characters such as Elsa from the movie Frozen, Spiderman and Scooby Doo.

While the event was more about giving children and their families a memorable day, a total of £300 was also raised for the charity.

The Gough family who attended the afternoon tea said, “We spent the afternoon like royalty, we had a lovely afternoon tea in the company of some awesome characters who worked their socks off to give our children a wonderful memory. To say that an event like this has a positive impact on children who are fighting the battle of their lives is an understatement. Our whole family has been recharged and re-fuelled by the love in the room. Thank you for each and every high five, groovy move, hug and smile.”
