Bench in memory of Eaglesham resident Morag

Friends and family of Eaglesham resident Morag Miller have installed a bench on the Orry in the village in her memory.

Morag lived for most of her 83 years in Eaglesham, living in quite a few houses around the village over the years.

Most people in the village knew her – especially as she worked in the village for many years as well. She really loved her cat and was always pottering in her beautifully well kept garden. David Oglivie Engineering designed the back of the bench to that effect.

She was most often seen in bright red, hence the choice of colour.

Her car when she was still driving had been red and laterally her scooter was red too.

She could regularly be seen around the village on it.

Morag retired at 60 from BT and then became a janitor for the Montgomery Hall in Eaglesham until she was 65 and she then had to retire from there. She then went to work at kids time out in the village which is a before and after school club.

The spot was chosen as Morag loved Eaglesham so much and the bench looks over the whole village.

Morag’s family and friends are grateful to East Renfrewshire Council and the community council for agreeing to have the bench placed on the Orry.
