A Southside fundraising group has pulled out all the stops with its saucy but cute 2017 calendar in support of Guide Dogs Scotland.
The fundraising team, which includes Fiona Fraser and Lisa McDougall from Guide Dogs Southside, decided a calendar with half naked men and cute animals would be the perfect way to raise funds and give people something to look forward to each month.
Stripped to the waist, the buff volunteers include a rock star, fitness expert, rugby player, boxer, lecturer and doctor. To add some cuteness a number of pets also grace the pages.
From large dogs to puppies, and kittens to bunny rabbits, each page is designed to have people smiling. All funds raised will go directly to Guide Dogs Scotland.
Fundraiser Fiona Fraser said: “The lifetime cost of a guide dog is just under £55,000, so we really wanted to create a calendar which would stand heads and shoulders above other charity and celebrity calendars.
“In 2015, no guide dog partnerships were funded by government, and the charity relies on donations and gifts in wills to deliver this life-changing service.
“We thought the combination of hunky men and cute pets would appeal to more people and hopefully raise loads of money. Every pound raised will make a difference to the lives of people in Scotland living with sight loss.”
June model Patrick McVey, founder of The Shed Bootcamp and Personal Fitness, said: “Fiona and the rest of the fundraising team do an amazing job raising much need cash and awareness for Guide Dogs. I was delighted to help out for such an important and worthwhile cause.
“I hope lots of people support the fundraiser and buy the calendar.”
September model, Andy Carr, bass guitarist at Glasgow hard rock band Gun, said: “Despite the ribbing I will no doubt get from my band mates, I was only too happy to strip off and get into a bath with a dog twice the size of me. It was all good fun and let’s hope it raises plenty of cash for the charity.”
As well as being in the band, Andy is also a fitness instructor with The Shed Bootcamp.
The calendar costs £7.99 and can be purchased by emailing Glasgowgdpuppy@outlook.com
