Up and coming young Clarkston chef, Nicolle Finnie is sharpening her knives after finding out she has been selected to cook in a UK final.
Two weeks ago The Extra revelead that the talented chef was about to take part in a prestigious cookery competition as she entered the regional heats of the Toque d’Or 2016.
Now we can reveal her skills have seen her and her team cook their way through to the UK finals running between March 17-20.
Nestle’s professional cooking competition saw 180 teams enter from 68 colleges across the UK.
Now that has been narrowed down to the finals where where the City of Glasgow College team will compete against colleges from Birmingham, York, Sheffield Gloucester and Derby.
Nicolle said: “The grand finals will provide more challenges and give us all some valuable experience.
“Because it’s a team competition, it’s a lot different to competitions I’ve previously contested. On the practical side, I feel quite confident that the City of Glasgow College team will give it our best shot.”
Willie McCurrach, curriculum head for food at City of Glasgow College, said: “To reach the final of this very prestigious competition is absolutely fantastic and is testament to the hours of hard work by the team. We are the only Scottish college remaining in Toque d’Or 2016, which is an amazing achievement.
“We are now down to the final six. Nicolle, alongside her team mates Charles and Lee, has worked extremely hard to get through by impressing Nestlé’s own judging team. I wish these three talented students the best of luck.”
