The junior road safety officers (JRSOs) of Netherlee Primary School have launched a campaign to highlight the need for safer driving near the school.
They were undertaking the important task to mark National Road Safety Week which ran between 21 and 27 November.
They were supported by staff at the school, the parent council, the campus police officer , East Renfrewshire’s roads department and local councillors Ralf Robertson, Mary Montague and Gordon McCaskill.
The JSRO’s spoke with parents who had either ignored yellow lines and zig zags or double parked in the nearby Netherlee Pavilion car park. They asked them to think again about where they park to drop off or pick up children from school.
Simon Cunningham, parent council chairman explains: “We have had several reported near misses already this term and numerous comments from our children of incidents where they have been scared of being hit by a car. This campaign was very worthwhile.”
