Netherlee goes green again

GREEN-FINGERED pupils at Netherlee primary have cause to celebrate after achieving their fourth green flag.

The East Renfrewshire school’s eco committee has been working hard for the past two years to meet the criteria set out for gaining an impressive fourth flag.

The group has been working with Kirk House to plant an orchard, as well as focusing on biodiversity, litter picking and more eco-friendly transport within the school.

The school also took part in the national Spring Clean event, at Linn Park, and all the hard work has paid off as Netherlee can now fly its latest flag high.

Pupils celebrated the achievement with another event last weekend – a big dig where children, staff and parents rolled up their sleeves in a bid to de-weed the P5 garden after a wet summer.
